Blue Pear
(Research/UX/UI)
A leadership coaching company based out of the Chicago area.
To design a user-friendly website that is visually appealing and can effectively communicate what the company has to offer.
Objective:
In today's fast-paced business environment, professionals and organizations increasingly seek effective leadership coaching to enhance their skills, drive performance, and achieve their goals. However, many existing leadership coaching websites fail to provide a seamless, user-friendly experience. As a result, potential clients may abandon their search for coaching services, leading to missed opportunities. Our goal is to design a leadership coaching website that sets a new standard for excellence in the industry, ensuring that users can effortlessly access the resources and services they require to succeed.
Problem:
User Persona
Sarah
34 | Female | Marketing Manager
Sarah has 10 years of experience in the marketing industry and has recently landed a managerial role in a mid-sized marketing firm. While Sarah excels in her technical skills and project management, she finds herself facing new challenges in leadership and team management. She is looking for a website where she can find a motivational coach that will help boost her confidence and communication skills
My Research
Evaluated Design and Usability: I assessed the overall design, layout, and user experience of each website.
Content Analysis: I analyzed the type and quality of content provided, including blogs, articles, and client testimonials.
User Engagement: I looked at user engagement metrics such as social media presence, blog comments, and client reviews. This helped gauge how effectively each website engages with its audience.
I gained valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of competing leadership coaching websites, which helped me understand best practices while ensuring the website remained distinct and creative. I ran a heuristic evaluation on each site with 5 being most successful.
Competitive Analysis
The objective of this survey was to gather insight on what the users need from the site. I surveyed 100 people and discovered that only 52% of them were familiar with leadership coaching. This meant I had to give a very clear explanation of what Blue Pear offers.
User Survey
After learning that over half of the participants were aiming for better communication skills and strategic goal setting, I knew to be sure to incorporate those offerings in the design.
Low-Fidelity Prototype
I designed this first prototype to be able to test users on the functionality of the site. I conducted user tests which gave me insight on what to change and what to keep.
I gathered quantifiable metrics with my testing and was able to make changes to my design with the obtained information.
Tasks completed: 100%
Tasks completed under 30 seconds: 55%
Tasks completed under 5 clicks: 30%
Customer Satisfaction: 60%
Error Rate: 25%
Usability Testing
The main color I chose combines the calming effects of blue with the passionate energy of purple, creating a color that can evoke feelings of depth and introspection. The light orange color can evoke feelings of joy, encouragement, and a positive outlook. I chose the really light blue to bring a sense of peace and relaxation to the user.
